Here's a little sewing project to get you feeling festive
Create a garland of Merry and Bright felt fairy lights with this sewing tutorial.
The only Christmas lights that don't blow or get tangled.

PROJECT MATERIALS:
- Coloured craft felt
- Thread of your choice
- Toy stuffing
- String or cord
- Project templates
This project can be hand sewn or stitched on a machine, whatever your preference.
If using embroidery floss, split into 2 strands to make your thread go further.
If you want the pattern and printable instructions see HERE
And here's how to create your garland
1. CUT your felt using templates or self draft your shapes. 1 fitting cut on the fold to form your loop and 1 bulb template cut x2

2. SEW a bulb to each end of the fitting with running or back stitch.

Optional - If you want to applique letters to your bulbs, do this now by hand or machine. Find Applique lettering templates HERE
You can stick or sew your lettering down onto the bulb.
3. FOLD and start sewing bulb pieces together from the top edge using a running stitch with a small border. Work around the bulb to the other top edge, leaving the top open for stuffing.

Trim any undesirable edges and pull thread tails inside the bulb unseen.
4. STUFF into the open top carefully.

TOP TIP use a pencil to push stuffing in more easily. It can be fiddly but you'll get the hang of it!
5. SEAL the bulb across top edge with your remaining thread, using a running or back stitch. This will create a loop for your bulb to hang.

6. FINALLY MAKE MORE bulbs in varying bright colours and then string your garland.
I used twine but any cord or yarn would work. I thought that dark green was quite realistic.
