Handmade gifts to sew

Gifting handmade is such a joy. The recipient not only receives your present filled with love, you get o practice your craft skills AND it's good for the environment too.

In a modern world of consumerism it's hard to find something unique and personal, but so easy when you are making a gift by hand.

Sewing is one of the best ways to make gifts plus you have an excuse to buy more fabric!

Making gifts can often be cheaper because you can use materials that you already have or collect throughout the year at the best price. Re-purposing and recycling can be very satisfying.

In this post I have picked out some of my favourite sewing patterns to make quick and easy handmade gifts.

1 - BOOK COVERS

Personalise your text books with a fabric cover. These instructions will show you how to make any size cover.

2 - Book Bag Tote

5 - Drawstring bags

One of the easiest bags to make and SO versatile as you can change the size of the pattern very easily to make so many different sized bags. Gift bags, Pump bag, Massive present sack, the possibilities are endless. AND THIS PROJECT HAS NO ZIP!

6 - Apron / Tool Belt

This project is really fun and really can be tailored to anyone. Whether its a baking, apron, money belt gardening apron, or tool belt that's up to you and all depends on the FABRIC you choose.

And finally to JAZZ up your work try adding APPLIQUE LETTERS it's really simple. Just grab the PDF templates (resize if need be on a photocopier) cut out letters in craft felt and stick or sew.

8 - Applique templates

One of the best things about HANDMADE is that you can personalise your gift to the recipient so easily. Whether it's their favourite colour, a slogan or just their initials, your offering will be totally UNIQUE. Check out my Applique lettering templates to add a slogan or Initials to your sewing.
