I love cutting up old jeans and repurposing them. I'm always looking at how to de-construct and use as much of the parts as possible.

For this project I used 1 whole pair of womens jeans and the waistband from another, to get the stripe drawstring channel. Large jeans work best for projects like this I like to steal my husbands but you could also scour charity shops for good denim.
If you'd like the measurements I used for this project grab the blueprints for FREE in my Sewing Club
Here's how I did it:
CUT legs off jeans

CUT legs down inner side seam to open up

CUT 4 equal strips from the front and back of legs. I like to use a rotary cutter and patchwork ruler

JOIN leg strips together using 1/2" seam allowance

CUT strip for drawstring channel or use a jean waistband

OPEN waistband up and PRESS

ATTACH channel strip to top of main panels

JOIN bottom strip to main panels

Make a LOOP for your strap - I used a Jean belt loop, but you can also use tape or ribbon.

JOIN raw edges of your main bag all the way up the side, catching your belt loop into the seam.

And also leaving a 3" GAP (approx 1.5" down from top edge) at the top to create a drawstring channel

Press and TOPSTITCH channel gap

Turn under and FOLD channel strip down in half into the bag and TOPSTITCH to secure the hem.

Calculate your circle base and CUT

MARK quarter points on your circular base to match your bag cylinder

SEW base to main cylinder

TURN through

THREAD rope through your drawstring channel

Through loop strip and TIE

ET VOILA! You are done!
